Daniel in the Old Testament

Daniel is mentioned twice in Ezekiel’s writings.  Ezekiel was taken to Babylon in the second deportation of the Jews from Jerusalem in 597.  Daniel had already been in Babylon for eight years when Ezekiel arrived.  Ezekiel made a home for himself along the Chebar River near the village of Nippur (Ezekiel 3:15,24).  His wife died in 587 (Ezekiel 1:2; 29:17-21).  He prophesied to Judah, Jerusalem and a host of other countries for over 22 years.  From the following Scriptures it is obvious that he knew Daniel and held him in the highest regard.

Ezekiel 14:12-14

12 Then the word of the LORD came to me saying,

14 even though these three men, Noah, Daniel and Job were in its midst, by their own righteousness they could only deliver themselves,” declares the Lord GOD.

Ezekiel 14:19-20

19 Or if I should send a plague against that country and pour out My wrath in blood on it to cut off man and beast from it,
20 even though Noah, Daniel and Job were in its midst, as I live,” declares the Lord GOD, “they could not deliver either their son or their daughter. They would deliver only themselves by their righteousness.”

Matthew 24:15-16

15 Therefore when you see the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand),
16 then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains...
